Question
Me and my wife are going to Mexico in a couple of weeks for a vacation. Besides parasailing, waverunners, etc I would like to go deep sea fishing. We have 3 ports of call- Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta. Which would be the best location for fishing? How much would I expect to spend for maybe a half day? What kind of fish would I be able to catch?

Answer
You can pay upwards of 3-4 hundred dollars for a pre registered guide to take you fishing (I fished in Cabo). Something I recently discovered on a trip there over last spring break was that with the abundance of fisherman you have the option of walking down to one of the boat docks and asking around for someone to take you out (I was able to score a trip for 50). You can catch fisherman who normally take people but don't currently have any "appointments" and get huge discounts by just showing up. When you go, depending on the types of tackle you bring along, you can get many of the bottom feeder fish (easy to catch yet delicious) or you could, if you have the rod for it, go for something a bit bigger like marlin.
